Windows Mail Email Account Setup
Step by step how to set up an email account in Windows Mail email client.
Before you get going, make sure you know your email address along with the following information. (You may need to contact your ISP, Internet Service Provider, to get it)
Information about the e-mail servers:
- The type of e-mail server you use: POP3 (most e-mail accounts), HTTP (such as Hotmail), or IMAP
- The name of the incoming e-mail server
- For POP3 and IMAP servers, the name of the outgoing e-mail server (generally SMTP)
Information about your account:
- Your account name and password
Getting Started
Start Windows Mail.
Move your curser along the toolbar to "tools", then scroll down to "Accounts...".
Click the "Add" button on the righthand side of the window that pops up.
Select "Email Account" from the list of options. Click "Next".
Type your name as you wish it to be displayed on emails to others in the box. Click "Next".
Type your email address in the box. Click "Next".
Depending on the information your ISP has supplied select either "POP3" or "IMAP", fill in your incoming and outgoing server. Click "Next".
Type the Username supplied by your ISP in the first box and the Password in the second box, leave the remember password box ticked if you don't wish to fill in theassword each time you check your email. Click "Next".
Click "Finish".
