Outlook Email Account Setup

Step by step how to set up an email account in Microsoft Outlook email client.

Before you get going, make sure you know your email address along with the following information. (You may need to contact your ISP, Internet Service Provider, to get it)

Information about the e-mail servers:

• The type of e-mail server you use: POP3 (most e-mail accounts), HTTP (such as Hotmail), or IMAP
• The name of the incoming e-mail server
• For POP3 and IMAP servers, the name of the outgoing e-mail server (generally SMTP)

Information about your account:

• Your account name and password

Getting Started

Start Outlook.

Move your curser along the toolbar to "tools", then scroll down to "Account Settings".

Click the "New" button on the left-hand side of the window that pops up.

Select "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP". Click "Next".

Select "Manually configure server settings or additional types". Click "Next".

Select "Internet E-mail". Click "Next".

Fill in the information supplied by your ISP and click "Test Account Settings" if that's successful. Click "Next".

Click "Finish".
